MPLS Replacement
Security & Performance
Sundata offers solutions that intelligently combine the quality and security of MPLS networks with optimised bandwidth costs to interconnect your corporate or public sites. The transition from MPLS to SD-WAN VPN can be done step by step, so you can manage the technology switch in full control.
You need MPLS Replacement if you are:
Multi-site Company
MPLS is typically used by companies that need to distribute IT services or exchange information securely, reliably and efficiently from the server to remote branches. Optimise your budget and invest in Sundata SD-WAN solutions. Get maximum performance with a private network communicating via VPN protocol and encrypted connections.
Public Administration
Have you centralised your voice services using a single network for all sites, but costs are high and the service level falls short? Sundata can design tailored interconnection and communication solutions that will let you make a technological leap forward at affordable prices.
Banking and Insurance Institutions
Security is a must for communications between the data centre and branches. In these contexts the MPLS standard has always been prominent. Now, with the constant need for ever more flexible and reliable solutions, SD-WAN VPN offers a wider range of possibilities, ensuring more effective management even in critical environments.
Continuous delivery of IT services
In environments active 24 hours a day, automatic connectivity failover is essential. Aggregate bandwidth and failover across multiple WAN links with Sundata solutions. Use multiple technologies to avoid problems in the event of an outage.
Container Terminal
Environments such as Container Terminals are particularly critical because the production process — unloading from ships, sorting on the quay and reloading containers correctly as fast as possible — is closely tied to IT systems, especially the network architecture. In a terminal’s operational areas, numerous vehicles are typically used that must be constantly connected to an efficient and secure private network. Sundata SD-WAN solutions deliver the highest levels of connection reliability and security even on mobile installations, through the management of 4G/5G and Wi-Fi connections.
Live HD video streaming
For real-time traffic, such as live HD video streaming, use Sundata technologies to broadcast from virtually anywhere, even with multiple 3G/4G/5G mobile connections. You can shape traffic so that it has greater quality guarantees, at the expense of bandwidth.
Why choose MPLS Replacement
SD-WAN VPN is the technology that intelligently combines the quality of MPLS networks, optimised bandwidth costs and greater management flexibility.
Sundata can design SD-WAN networks that meet the requirements of large enterprises as well as SMEs and the public administration in terms of:
secure interconnections between different sites;
multi-provider and multi-technology solutions (FttH, XDSL, 4G, Wi-Fi, etc.);
far higher bandwidth flexibility than MPLS, at the same cost;
greater interconnection reliability, thanks to intelligent management across multiple WAN lines, while keeping the budget low and affordable for everyone.
Bandwidth Bonding
Bandwidth Bonding combines data at the packet level, allowing the speed of multiple connections to be combined. This is useful in situations where bandwidth is scarce, for example at a remote site or in a moving vehicle. This solution also lets branches connect to the head office with optimal performance. In fact, it can manage different WANs even with different technologies, and therefore different performance levels (for example 4G or radio connections tend to have irregular transfer speed and latency), by creating a single VPN tunnel. The result is overall performance optimisation, both in terms of bandwidth and jitter.
SD-WAN Solutions
Cold Failover
A failover solution that activates the backup link in the event of primary connectivity outage.
Hot Failover
A failover solution with always-on links, for immediate service continuity with no perceptible interruptions.
WAN Smoothing
WAN Smoothing uses intelligent algorithms to bridge connectivity gaps or latency, optimising bandwidth for greater connection resilience. WAN Smoothing minimises latency and reduces the impact of packet loss. For example, when live broadcasts are “choppy” due to packet loss, WAN Smoothing sends redundant packets across multiple network channels simultaneously, instantly bridging the gaps in the data and eliminating the effects of packet loss.
Benefits of using MPLS Replacement
Multi-provider and Multi-technology connections
You can balance different WAN networks from different providers, assigning each connection in the VPN tunnel the priority level of each service, using a full range of technologies (dedicated line, XDSL, 4/5G, Wi-Fi, etc.).
Optimised performance and costs
The much lower cost per Megabyte compared to MPLS solutions makes Sundata SD-WAN VPN far more efficient. At the same cost, much greater available bandwidth can be obtained, while performance can be further improved with the aid of integrated technologies (e.g. CDN).
Architecture flexibility
The ability to manage the Private Network architecture between multiple sites more flexibly, making, for example, each site independent for certain types of traffic (e.g. internet access). This achieves a significant reduction in bandwidth costs (in MPLS even simple internet browsing is routed through the hub) and improved performance on some particularly bandwidth-intensive traffic types.
Effective security against man-in-the-middle attacks
Once the bandwidth-bonded VPN tunnel is formed, sessions are broken up and the resulting packets are sent separately across the available WAN-to-WAN connections. Because each WAN-to-WAN connection is encrypted separately, potential hackers would have to obtain the key for every WAN-to-WAN connection before having any chance of accessing the data within it. This makes Sundata SD-WAN technology virtually impervious to man-in-the-middle attacks.
