Off-site Cloud backup and ransomware recovery in ~2 hours
For Fradelloni, a Cagliari-based transport company operating since 1920, we built a high-performance, resilient and secure infrastructure with off-site backup on the SUNDATA Cloud. Proven in the field under the toughest conditions.
The challenge
Relocating to the new Porto Canale site meant moving data and voice lines on a tight schedule, after a national carrier had failed to do so in nearly three months. This was followed by a server failure and the need to make data protection and security the top priority.
The solution
An infrastructure evolved step by step: a high-availability data center with dual Dell servers and NetApp All-Flash storage (ONTAP) on VMware virtualization, next-generation Sophos XGS firewalls in HA with mail security, and a Ruckus LAN and Wi-Fi network. Backups, based on snapshots, run periodically both locally and off-site on the SUNDATA Cloud, for an excellent level of data protection.
The result
The real test was a ransomware attack on the management-software VM: proactive intervention detected, blocked and isolated it, then restored the VM to a previous state. Thanks to regularly executed backups, data loss was minimal and downtime was cut to about two hours.
